Westhab Partners With the City of New Rochelle and STRIVE to Open the First Source Referral Center

Westhab has partnered with the City of New Rochelle and STRIVE International, a nationally recognized workforce development agency, to open the First Source Referral Center (FSRC.)

The center provides comprehensive career development and supportive services including skills assessments, job training, job readiness programs, and placement for careers in construction, healthcare, retail and other fields The mission of the center is to link business owners with job seekers, job seekers with jobs, residents to support
services, and support service providers to the community. FSRC offers free assistance to business owners by connecting them to qualified job seekers for available employment opportunities. For example, FSRC can help streamline the interview process for businesses by pre-screening qualified candidates and narrowing the candidate pool to identify the very best candidates for the available opportunities.

According to Ayanna Wayner, New Rochelle's Deputy Commissioner of Economic Development, "unlike the majority of local hiring initiatives, First Source's extensive program not only puts individuals in touch with potential employers but offers the necessary certification and training to adequately prepare job seekers for job opportunities—creating not just jobs, but careers."

The FSRC seeks to partner with local community agencies to meet the needs of our clients (including mental health, medical, housing, food, clothing, and legal), and Westhab’s team of employment counselors are on site to provide referrals for specific support services requested by our job seekers.
