Westhab, City in the Community, and Partners Team Up for Cool Donation Day

Recently, City in the Community (CITC), the foundation proudly supported by New York City Football Club (NYCFC), stopped by one of Westhab’s South Bronx shelters to give back to the community through a product donation day. CITC and players from NYCFC First Team were joined by volunteers from Midea and NYCFC’s Front Office to deliver over $125,000 worth of donated Midea products. The donations included portable air conditioners, fans, mini refrigerators, and dehumidifiers for Westhab clients.

Paul Jeffries, CITC Executive Director, said, “To have our players and employees from across CITC, NYCFC and Midea is a demonstration of our commitment to supporting our local communities and what our organizations are all about.”

This summer has seen record-breaking temperatures worldwide, which has made cooling appliances essential for both comfort and safety. The donated products will provide an important upgrade to the shelter and help Westhab clients feel more at home while living in transitional housing.

CITC’s mission is to “empower NYC youth through soccer.” The foundation aims to give back to and inspire the New York City community in regular programs focused around physical activity, leadership skills, and nutritional education. Westhab and CITC will continue to partner by signing-up young people living in Westhab’s transitional housing for free soccer programs.

Nicole Mylan, Westhab’s Assistant Vice President of NYC Shelter Programs, added, “We are so grateful to have worked with CITC and NYCFC, especially the incredible players who showed up to help out. We look forward to continuing to find meaningful ways to work together to support the wellbeing of our clients.”
