Since 1981, Westhab has believed in the transformative power of community. For the past 20 years, we’ve brought life-changing programming to Nodine Hill, Yonkers, one of Westchester County’s most underserved communities. Dayspring is the flagship of this comprehensive approach. Four years into opening, the Dayspring Community Center bustles with programming and delivers high-quality services to over 982 community members every month. As the only program of its kind in the neighborhood, Dayspring is a lifeline for working families and a launchpad for the next generation.

The Dayspring Society was launched to sustain these programs and help the community reach its full potential. Members who commit for three to five years at one of the levels below gain access to a network of philanthropic leaders and special events where they can see the impact of their support. Members also receive an annual report and connect directly with the staff and leadership driving this work.

Ways To Give
With your generous gift, Dayspring can continue to provide life-altering services to Nodine Hill. You can make contributions annually, quarterly, or monthly. In addition to checks and credit cards, Westhab accepts donations of securities, IRA charitable distributions, wire transfers, and gifts from donor-advised funds.

Melissa is a bright and curious high school freshman. She first came to Dayspring as a participant in the Teen Center and quickly set a goal for herself: to get her first job as soon as she turned 14. Like many young people, she faced limited access to paid work opportunities and structured enrichment outside of school. Living in the community, Dayspring became a natural and accessible place for her to work while gaining stability, mentorship, and real-world experience.
Through her role as a Teen Assistant, Melissa has developed strong time management, confidence, and leadership skills while helping care for and mentor the younger children. Dayspring has helped broaden her experiences and clarify her future, exposing her to new opportunities and positive peer relationships. Inspired by the supportive environment and emphasis on character and connection, Melissa now hopes to pursue a career in the medical field — an ambition made more tangible through the structure, guidance, and sense of possibility Dayspring provides
