Westhab in Yonkers, Inc. (WIY) is a New York State not-for-profit,
tax-exempt corporation. It is a Neighborhood Preservation
Company, funded by the
NYS Division of Housing and Community Renewal to provide
housing and community development assistance to the residents
of southwest Yonkers. It is also a City of Yonkers-designated
Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO).

Westhab in Mount Vernon, Inc. (WMV) is a New York State not-for-profit,
tax-exempt corporation that has been designated a Community
Housing Development Organization (CHDO) by the NYS
Division of Housing and Community Renewal and the City
of Mount Vernon.
When Westhab decided to expand its scope of service beyond
housing and direct supportive services to include community
and economic development, we realized the importance of establishing
locally directed organizations in the communities we wished
to target. It was imperative that local civic leaders and
residents play a major role in program direction and policy-making.
We determined that our community and economic development
efforts were most needed and could be most effective in the
Elliott Avenue/Lawrence Street/Bruce Avenue section of southwest
Yonkers and the Third Street/Fourth Avenue corridor of Mount
Vernon. In Yonkers we were fortunate to have established a
Neighborhood Preservation Company (NPC), funded by the
New York State Division of Housing and Community Renewal
(DHCR) several years before. The NPC, known as Westhab
in Yonkers, Inc. had been used primarily for housing production
and management, but now expanded to include broader community
goals. We established Westhab in Mount Vernon, Inc.
in the same spirit, to promote revitalization and improved
quality of life for our targeted neighborhoods.
The Board of Directors of Westhab in Yonkers includes
a prominent clergyman; a Westchester County government official;
the president of a local nonprofit financial intermediary;
the director of a local non-profit; several local residents;
and several Westhab, Inc, Board Members. The Westhab in
Mount Vernon Board includes a tenants' rights leader;
a local attorney; a local business owner; a prominent clergyman;
two members of the current City administration; a former director
of the Mount Vernon Youth Bureau; several local residents;
and several Weshab, Inc. Board Members
Westhab in Connecticut,
Inc.
Westhab in Connecticut, Inc. is a Connecticut non-stock corporation
formed for charitable purposes and intended to provide housing
and community development assistance in Connecticut cities.
Newly-formed, it will be applying to the IRS for recognition
of tax-exempt status in 2008.
Each of our affiliate companies contracts with Westhab, Inc.
to provide staff necessary to carry out its mission.
