This summer, Westhab hosted a Hard-Hat Tour of Gouverneur Place Apartments - a new affordable housing building in the Bronx that is currently under construction. Located in the Morrisania neighborhood of the Bronx, Gouverneur Place will provide 68 affordable apartments for New York City residents, of which, 50 units will be set aside for individuals with mental health disabilities. With construction scheduled for completion in July 2016, community leaders, affordable-housing advocates, and key investment partners were excited to tour the building and envision its future role in the community.
Westhab is the developer of Gourverneur Place and will provide comprehensive services for building residents, including property management and mental health services. “Gouverneur Place is an important public-private partnership that will bring new, affordable housing for individuals and families in need to the Bronx,” said Richard Nightingale, president & CEO of Westhab, Inc. “When completed next year, this new community will bring hope and opportunity for the people who will call Gouverneur Place their home.”
Major funding for the $20.7 million project is provided by the New York State Office of Mental Health, New York State Homes and Community Renewal, and the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York. UnitedHealthcare, in partnership with Enterprise Community Investment, provided equity for the project.
