Westhab has been offering employment and training programs in Westchester County since 1996 and in the last year alone we have placed 245 people in new jobs. Our services are designed for those with limited academic skills and work experience, and our client-centered approach focuses on career track job development and retention strategies. Specific services include: employment case management and the development of individualized employment plans, employment readiness training, skills training with referral and follow-up, job development and placement and job retention counseling.
Westhab offers these programs and services to those in our shelters and transitional units, though they are also available to the public through our Community Resource Centers in Yonkers (103 Elm Street) and Mount Vernon (49 East 3rd Street).
Westhab Employment Services has placed over 2,000 clients into full time jobs in the New York metro area since 1996. We tailor our services to meet the needs of both the job-seeker and the employer in order to create the most successful "match".
In an effort to expand the pool of jobs available to our clients and to ensure successful placements, Westhab establishes strong relationships with employers and even makes available a wage subsidy program.
Employer Testimonial - Eileen Ford, VIP Health Care Exceptional Cleaning in Ossining has been one of Westhab’s Wage Subsidy employer partners for over five years. Its president, Henry Jones, shared the following with us recently: "Westhab's Wage Subsidy Program has been extremely beneficial to [our] staffing efforts. There is no arguing that the economic benefits are ideal to assist the small business owner in navigating often complex Human Resources issues. Westhab's initial screening and job retention counseling services save valuable time since only those candidates who are well suited to our business culture are referred to us. On those rare occasions when an employee might need to be replaced Westhab is prompt in presenting alternative candidates."
Westhab's Employer Advisory Board is Back!
On March 27th, Employment Services held its 1st Employer Advisory Board Meeting of 2013 at the Microsoft Office Retail Store located within the Westchester Mall. In attendance were over 20 employers who represented a wide variety of industry sectors, that included FedEx, Prudential, Archcare, Allied Barton Security Services and many more.
The Employer Advisory Board (EAB) provides a forum where employers and Westhab staff can engage in discussions regarding a host of employment related issues/trends. Information gathered from these discussions contributes to the quality and impact of services to our customers. The EAB meets once every quarter and is currently working on spearheading a Business Suit Drive for the warmer months. Members of the EAB are also very active within our programs. They provide career information and conduct presentations and/or workshops to assist many of our customers during their job search.
Employer Advisory Board Member:
After attending Westhab's first EAB session of 2013, and seeing all your accomplishments, it made me reflect on this John Quincy Adams quote: "If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a LEADER!" Westhab's Employment Services Team is my leading choice!
